Advantages of LED bulbs
There are several benefits of using LED bulbs over both compact fluorescent and an incandescent bulb. The following are some of the advantages of using LED light bulbs.
- Efficiency of LED bulbs - LEDs are more energy efficient than incandescent bulb. They produce more light per watt when compared to incandescent bulbs.
- Size of LEDs - When it comes to size of the bulb, LEDs are much smaller than both compact fluorescent and incandescent bulbs. Due to their smaller size, they can be used in a wide variety of appliances.
- Colors of LED - LED bulbs are available in many colors and don't need filters to display any particular color. This is an advantage when it comes to the cost of the bulb as LED bulbs are cheaper than other types of bulbs.
- Failure of the bulb - LEDs tend to fail over a period of time and that too by dimming when compared to the abrupt burn-out of incandescent bulbs.
- Shock resistance - LEDs are solid state components and thus shock resistant to a great extent. You don't need to handle them with a lot of care while transportation.
- Greater lifetime - LEDs tend to last over 50,000 hours. Compare this with an incandescent light bulbs that typically lasts for 1,000 to 2,000 hours. So, you could buy LED bulbs for your home now and they will be around for your grandchildren as well.
